BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — A Tuesday Boise City Council meeting will discuss amending code involving vehicle amplified sounds and excessive exhaust and muffler noise.
Ordinance seeks to update Boise City Code Title 6, Chapter 16 and 17.
The changes to Chapter 16 would address noise issues not currently contemplated within the Code, provide practical enforcement provisions and generally streamline it. This ordinance would specifically prohibit "unreasonable noise" made on a public street or highway and is audible from 50 feet or more.
The updates to Chapter 17 would address hazards associated with excessive fumes, smoke and exhaust as well as unreasonable noise created by certain muffler and exhaust systems.
This ordinance also updates and clarifies the prohibitions on muffler and exhaust systems while the vehicle is on public streets and highways within the City, including a prohibition on the use of systems designed to combust fuel within the exhaust system, creating a noise similar to gunfire.
The meeting will be held at City Hall on 150 Capital Blvd. in Boise at 12 p.m.
